1971 - Charlie Moultrie, a friend @ 15 years old, who found out too late he had testicular cancer, only to live less than a year. Charlie did not like loosing his hair during chemotherapy. The wigs his mother bought were just a joke to him. A true friend who stirred my desire to help cancer patients like us.
1996 - Beth Israel Three, a group of women, in clinic, waiting for chemotherapy who's weekly conversations centered on their loss of hair and the impact it had on their lives, personally and privately. Never a word about conversations with their own doctors, new treatment developments, or any cutting edge cancer developments.
2001 - Plans for the creation of a non-discriminatory organization for wigs for cancer,breast cancer,alopecia areata and other diseases where hair loss affects recovery begins. But with the tragic loss of 9/11 plans are put on hold for five years.
2005 & 2006 Foundation research and development. Contacting others to help in creating WIGS FOR ALL
2007 - December - WIGS FOR ALL A reality with Timothy's haircut of 26 inches in December. WIGS FOR ALL is established.
2008 - January - Calls begin to arrive asking for more information on WIGS FOR ALL. 4 Applications sent out to requesters. We found out social workers in California have found our website and put a flyer together. Hats Off to you. Started incorporation of WIGS FOR ALL. Started the application for 501-3-C non-profit status to help get wigs to patients sooner and accept donations.
2008 - February - Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP started helping us with our applications legally. AREA - American Run to end AIDS and Breast Cancer offered to be our fiscal sponsors as we wait for our non-profit status.
